Call for Position Papers 20th (Jubilee) Conference on Computer Science and Intelligence Systems (FedCSIS 2025; IEEE #66292; indexing: DBLP, SCOPUS, Web of Science; www.fedcsis.org) Krakow, Poland, 14-17 September, 2025 (on-site/in person) Strict submission deadline (for position papers): June 10, 2025, 23:59:59 AoE (no extensions) Please feel free to forward this announcement to your colleagues and associates who could be interested. **** The 20th Conference on Computer Science and Intelligence Systems (FedCSIS 2025) invites submissions of position papers. Position papers must not exceed 8 pages (minimum 4 pages) and they should relate to an ongoing research or experience. Position papers will be presented by the authors alongside regular papers. Position papers may be also submitted as demo papers and presented as demonstrations of software tools and products. They should describe non-for-profit software tools in a prototype-, alpha-, or beta-version. We invite two types of position papers: + Emerging research papers, which present preliminary research results from work-in-progress based on sound scientific approach but presenting work not completely validated as yet. They must describe precisely the research problem and its rationale. They must also define the intended future work including the expected benefits from solution to the tackled problem. + Challenge papers propose and describe research challenges in theory or practice of computer science and intelligence systems. The papers in this category must be based on deep understanding of existing research or industrial problems and should be defining new promising research directions. *** Topical areas and technical sessions: Main Track: * Topical Area 1: Advanced Artificial Intelligence in Applications * Topical Area 2: Computer Science & Systems * Topical Area 3: Network Systems and Applications * Topical Area 4: Information Technology for Business and Society * Topical Area 5: Software, System and Service Engineering Thematic Sessions: * AgriAI - AI in Agriculture * AI-HuSo - AI in Digital Humanities, Computational Social Sciences and Economics Research * APL - Advances in Programming Languages * CANA - Computer Aspects of Numerical Algorithms * CNLPS - Challenges for Natural Language Processing * CO - Computational Optimization * DSH - Data Science in Health, Ecology and Commerce| * EDUC-AI-TION - Education & AI systems * IoT-ECAW - Internet of Things - Enablers, Challenges and Applications * ISM - Information Systems Management * MDASD - Model Driven Approaches in System Development * MMAP - Multimedia Applications and Processing * NEMESIS - International Forum on Cyber Security, Privacy, and Trust * SLSAS - Self Learning and Self Adaptive Systems *** Keynote Speakers: + Damasevicius, Robertas, Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania Keynote title: AI-Driven Innovations in Brain Cancer Research + Dustdar, Schahram, Head of the Research Division of Distributed Systems at the TU Wien, Austria and part-time ICREA research professor at UPF Keynote title: Active Inference for Distributed Intelligence in the Computing Continuum + Jonker, Catholijn, TU Delft (main affiliation), Leiden University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands Keynote title: Hybrid Human-AI Intelligence to Strengthen the Reflective and Learning Capacity of Organisations + Plank, Barbara, Computational Linguistics at LMU Munich, Germany Keynote title: Human-centered LLMs for Inclusive Language Technology *** Professor Zdzisław Pawlak Awards: Professor Zdzisław Pawlak (1926–2006) has been regarded as one of the fathers of Computer Science in Poland. His theory of Rough Sets has been one of the most recognizable contributions made by a scientist in Poland to the area of Artificial Intelligence worldwide. In his research, Professor Pawlak has always emphasized the need for cross-disciplinary, cross-country, and cross-generation cooperation. In Computer Science, there may emerge a brilliant idea in someone’s head, but it requires collaborators to make it grow dynamically and then – a number of subject matter experts, from various fields, to develop its practical applications. The following categories of awards are eligible for all paper submitted to the FedCSIS conference: + Best Paper Award (€600): the best out of all papers accepted to the conference. + Young Researcher Award (€400): the best out of papers whereby all authors are younger than 40 years. + Industry Cooperation Award (€400): the best out of papers whereby there are at least two different authors, one working in academia and another one in industry. + International Cooperation Award (€400): the best out of papers whereby there are at least two different authors working in institutions located in two different countries. We believe that all these categories reflect the principles of Professor Pawlak’s work. The awards are decided by the Committee of esteemed scientists, who have had the privilege to know and cooperate with Professor Pawlak. As already mentioned, all papers – submitted to all parts of FedCSIS – are eligible. This way, the thematic integrity of FedCSIS is emphasized. List of past winners is available at the conference WWW site. *** Position paper submission and publication + Papers should be submitted by June 10, 2025 (strict deadline, no extensions, submission will be done via EasyChair). + Position papers will be published as a Volume of the Annals of Computer Science and Information Systems series, with an ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers. The papers will be submitted for indexing to DBLP Computer Science Bibliography and Google Scholar. The Annals-CSIS volume will NOT be placed in the IEEE Digital Library and will NOT be submitted to Clarivate Analytics Web of Science. However, we will attempt to index them in Scopus. + Authors should submit a position paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, using the on-line submission procedure. The guidelines for paper formatting provided at the conference website ought to be used for all submitted papers. The required submission format is the same as the camera-ready format. Please check, and carefully follow, the instructions and templates provided. Papers that are out of the conference scope of the selected event, or that contain any form of (self)plagiarism will be rejected without reviews. All position papers will be refereed before inclusion in the conference program. *** Important dates - Position paper submission: June 10, 2025 - Author notification: 1.07.2025 - Final paper submission, registration: 15.07.2025 - Early registration discount: TBA - Conference date: September 14-17.09.2025 *** Was Jaroslaw AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland Honorary Chair of FedCSIS Conference Series: Maciaszek, Leszek A. FedCSIS 2025 is technically sponsored by a number of IEEE units and other professional organizations (for the full list, see the conference site). The mission of the FedCSIS Conference Series is to provide a highly acclaimed forum in computer science and intelligence systems. Reports from past editions of FedCSIS can be found in the Archive section of the conference WWW site. *** Statement concerning Generative AIs: Recognizing the developing issue that affects all academic disciplines, we would like to state that, in principle, papers that include unedited text generated from Generative AI (GenAI), including large language models, are prohibited. If the author(s) uses GenAIs to prepare technical aspects of the research(e.g., use of GenAI-generated program code in experiments or simulations), this fact must be clearly marked in the paper, along with an analysis of the impact of this approach on the research results. In addition, it is permissible to use GenAI models at the stage of editorial correction, as long as the changes made are minor and do not substantively affect the article. It should be emphasized that full responsibility for the content of the publication lies with the author(s). Inappropriate or unethical use of GenAI models in the preparation of an article may result in its rejection.
